Organic Transition Service (OTS)

Through this service, ACORN offers support to new entrants and established producers and processors regarding transition to organic certification and the Canadian Organic Standards. The OTS answers general inquiries regarding organics and organic certification and coordinates farm visits, Kitchen Table Meetings, workshops and webinars. Going Global Workshops

The Agriculture Going Global Workshops are an exciting series of instructive workshops created specifically for agricultural producers interested in learning about exporting their products. This new series, developed CAHRC, in partnership with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), is designed to help individuals make crucial exporting decisions, avoid common pitfalls, and increase their understanding of international trade and foreign markets.

HR Management Workshops

A series of important workshops that provide instruction to employers on establishing effective management practices to get the most out of staff. Topics include Recruitment & Retention, HR Planning, and Organizational Culture.

Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA)

Farm safety training available at any time! These courses range from general safety awareness to specific equipment training, and were developed by the top subject matter experts in the industry. They are a valuable safety resource available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In addition, CASA has developed three different on-line farm training courses specifically designed to improve farm safety. Each course takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete and offers a quiz at the end of the learning experience. Hayes Farm (Fredericton) – Holistic Farm Business Planner – September 2020 Start

This course is designed to refine your farm vision and provide sharper focus for your future farm operations, while making sure to include the various activities in your life that bring you joy. This course will teach participants how to create an individualized business plan, but WILL NOT teach growing skills. Upon successful completion of the 35-hour course, participants will have created an individual, realistic, profitable, and fulfilling farm plan. Successful completion will also qualify participants for up to one hour per month of mentor support from December through March. See poster HERE.

This course is best suit individuals or partners who:  

  • are considering starting up a small scale agricultural operation in the near future,

  • are looking to expand an existing ‘home-use’ garden or homestead into a revenue positive operation,

  • have completed the Hayes Farm Regenerative Farming Certificate program and are ready to take the next steps, or

  • are part of an existing family farm and looking to start up their own personal project on the farm
