An Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) is most valuable as an environmental planning and risk assessment tool if it is kept current and reviewed routinely. In order to ensure that EFPs are up to date, it has been determined that all EFPs developed prior to February 2005 will no longer qualify a producer to receive financial assistance to implement Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs). As of January 1, 2010, all EFPs must have been completed in the current (4th) edition of the EFP manual or the associated electronic EFP in order to qualify for BMP funding under Growing Forward. This is consistent with how Agricultural Policy Framework (APF) was implemented as only recently developed EFPs (2001 or later) were eligible under that program.
